XR24 pedigree

The original XR24 RIB was built by Offshore Components (Osprey) and first appeared in the early 1990s, shortly after the release of the XR18 and XR20 boats. All the hulls shared the same bow shape, including the hard nose and bow locker. The number 18, 20 or 24 indicated the length of the boat, in feet.

An XR24 won the Round Scotland RIB race in 1992. The design was way ahead of its time, with close tolerance mouldings and a GRP deck, which is now standard practice. The Osprey XR24 was built as a general purpose boat, dive boat or for racing. Pure racing boats were lighter, with balsa-cored decks and proved very fast. The original design went out of production around 1995. The boats earned an awesome reputation for high speed in coastal conditions. A number of boats are still in use and tend to command high prices on the second-hand market.XR24 dive boat
