The Eco XR24 is a 7.2m rigid inflatable boat with an efficient, conic delta deep-V hull and a hard bow. The new environmentally-friendly design is based on a hull shape with a proven track record. A large locker in the bow and under-seat lockers give plenty of storage for cruising or for safety equipment. There is a choice of outboard engines, up to 250hp and the seating and deck layout are to the owner's requirements.

Fuel economy

The Eco XR24 is typically 250kg lighter than most RIBs of a similar length - and as much as 750kg lighter than some. 250kg typically represents a 25% fuel saving for a boat running without passengers or 17% fuel saving when 6 passengers are carried. The Eco XR24 can use lower-powered engines than many of its competitors. Smaller engines weigh less and spend more of their time working at high efficiency, so they run cleaner and use even less fuel.

Generally, for a boat to be fuel-efficient, it needs a light, sleek hull. Lighter powerboats need less power and use less fuel than heavy ones.

Fuel saved by lighter boats

There's more to a low-carbon boat than just fuel economy. It needs to be lightweight, so smaller vehicles can tow it. It needs to be robust and durable, so it lasts for many years. It needs to be versatile, so it gets used in preference to less efficient boats. And it needs to be built from sustainable materials wherever possible. Eco-Marine has taken these factors into account in developing the Eco XR24.
